Wish child Miraya in the studio surrounded by bright ballloons as she films her music video for her wish
Miraya loves music and writing. During her 2 1/2 years of leukemia treatment, she began to combine her two interests to write rap songs. Miraya wished to make a music video for her original rap, "Video Games" and her wish was granted through generous collaboration from Beatbox Studio and HAUS, both out of Pawtucket, RI. Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

For children diagnosed with critical illnesses, a wish come true can be a crucial turning point in their lives. A wish can be that spark that helps children believe that anything is possible and energizes them with the strength to face their illnesses with greater hope. This impact is why we continue driving toward our vison of granting the wish of every eligible child.

In its 40-year history, Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island has granted wishes for over 10,000 children in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

According to an independent national Wish Impact Study:

  • 97% of wish children exhibit increased joy as a result of a wish;
  • 92% of wish children exhibit renewed hope and determination to overcome illness; and
  • 88% of physicians believe a wish can have a positive impact on a child’s health

Each year, approximately 500 children in Massachusetts and Rhode Island are newly diagnosed with a critical illness and become eligible for a wish. Our vision is to grant a wish for every medically eligible child in our community.

From volunteering to corporate engagement, there are many ways to support wish children.

Wish child Xavier and his dad together in Xavier's pool
The swimming pool Xavier wished for is important for so many reasons. For a child who spent nearly two years hospitalized on a ventilator, the pool represents freedom and strength. Most importantly, it provides Xavier, who is nonverbal, with a new way to connect with his family and friends to make joyful memories.
