Make-A-Wish^® Massachusetts and Rhode Island

As Vice Chair of the Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island Board of Directors, Amanda Eisel supports our organization as a donor, a leader, and an advocate. Amanda is CEO of Zelis, a healthcare payments company dedicated to improving the financial experience for patients, payers, and providers. Under her tenure since 2021, Zelis has grown substantially and was named to Fortune’s Best Workplaces in Health Care.

“A parallel between Zelis and Make-A-Wish is the shared desire to help patients and their families focus on their care and on hope,” observes Amanda. “To be able to play that role, especially for children, is unbelievably important.”

Amanda’s mother was a role model to Amanda as an avid volunteer who provided support to cancer patients. Amanda witnessed how the sense of purpose with which her mother carried herself gave roots to hope, not just for those she was helping but also when her mother became a cancer patient herself.

With three young children and a demanding career, Amanda’s life in Boston is full, and she holds her mother’s example close as she balances work, family, and service. Amanda characterizes the Make-A-Wish board as “dynamic, with likehearted people full of diverse expertise and life experience” and has been deeply moved by the stories wish families share during Make-A-Wish events, including those that Zelis has hosted. Zelis also sponsored Team Make-A-Wish for the 2025 Boston Marathon.

Amanda’s encouragement to current and potential Make-A-Wish supporters is, “Think about what you can uniquely contribute to this important mission. I’m personally committed to helping Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island become a cornerstone of first thought in the local medical community, being universally seen and understood as an integral part of a child’s medical treatment.”
