Yadira, Audrey’s mom, had a normal pregnancy, and then the first-time parents welcomed their beautiful baby girl into the world. The medical team noticed right away Audrey was having trouble breathing and the doctors called an emergency meeting, and the new parents were told their daughter would need a tracheostomy. Between procedures, testing, and surgeries the family and Audrey spent a long six months in the hospital, and she was diagnosed with Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome. Audrey is dependent on a ventilator to breathe.

Audrey’s parents describe her as happy, loving, and one of the most generous people you will ever meet. Even through the many challenges she has faced she always has a beautiful smile on her face. Yadira, Audrey’s mom shared “It is heartbreaking as a parent to see that your child can’t be like any other kid and just run around and go outside when they want. Audrey says to us at times that she wants to be unhooked from her machines and be like the other kids.”

Audrey’s family was so excited when they learned she had been accepted for Make-A-Wish. Audrey decided her wish was to have a bowling party and include all her friends and family. Yadira said, “Bowling has been something special we do as a family. The first time we took Audrey, she didn’t want to leave, and she started watching bowling videos on YouTube to work on her game.” Audrey was so excited for her wish, that she created a countdown calendar to her wish day!
