Khalil's wish to be a police officer

Diagnosed with sickle cell disease, a life-threatening blood disorder, Khalil ‘s team at Advocate Children’s Hospital connected him with Make-A-Wish. He has to have monthly blood transfusions and take daily medications to reduce his chances of having a stroke. Khalil's parents said he's a strong boy who amazes his doctors.

Except for his diagnosis of sickle cell disease, Khalil is a very typical 4-year-old who likes to play and is passionate about police. Make-A-Wish Illinois partnered with the Chicago Police Department to grant Khalil’s wish to be a police officer. He spent the day doing of the things that he loves with police officers – including riding in police cars and meeting the K-9 and mounted patrol units, ending with a formal ceremony to welcome him to the ranks.

Khalil and his family had a great day and left full of happy memories, and so did the dozens of Chicago Police who helped make his dream a reality.
