An important milestone, Gisselle dreamed of having her very own Quinceañera when she turned 15. A charming and social girl, Gisselle and her family looked forward to celebrating this coming-of-age tradition. The diagnosis of a life-threatening genetic disease and a pandemic may have delayed her celebration, but it couldn’t stop her from having an incredible day with her family and friends thanks to Make-A-Wish volunteers and supporters in her McHenry County community.
When the team at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital connected Gisselle and her family to Make-A-Wish, Gisselle shared her dream for a Quinceañera that would make her feel just like the princesses she loves to watch in movies. Her volunteer wish granters Cricket and Mike Mrozek planned the party and even arranged for Gisselle to have her make up done and a have a photo shoot as part of her big day.
“Giselle was so happy the entire night. She spent the whole time with a smile on her face, and was so excited with the outcome,” Cricket said.
When Cricket saw Gisselle the day after her party, Gisselle was still glowing.
“We felt very honored to be able to help make Gisselle’s wish for her Quinceanera come true,” Cricket added.
