Volunteer Beverly

Long-time volunteer calls wish kids "heroes"

In her many years of volunteering for Make-A-Wish Illinois, Beverly Gant has granted 49 wishes in the Springfield area and is currently working on six more.

She began volunteering many years ago, took a few years off and has been back at it for the past 11 years. Beverly said she had volunteered at other organizations before Make-A-Wish, but this one stuck with her. Beverly is so dedicated to the kids and families of Make-A-Wish, that she continues to grant wishes while battling cancer herself. Beverly also serves as a member of the Sangamon Area Regional Council for Make-A-Wish Illinois.  As a regional council member Beverly assists with fundraising, medical outreach and community relations efforts on behalf of Make-A-Wish Illinois in the community.

“The most memorable part of being a volunteer is the kids themselves. They’re my heroes.”
Beverly
Volunteer Wish Granter

She loves the people she works with, developing bonds with the families, and keeping in contact with them after the child’s wish is granted. On top of volunteering, Beverly’s passion for kids continues as she spends her free time with her three grandkids.
