Penguin Plunge to benefit Make-A-Wish® Illinois

Chilly fundraiser supports wishes for Illinois children with critical illnesses

CHICAGO (January 8, 2024) — Take the plunge and help area children with critical illnesses by joining Penguin Plunge on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at SkyDive Chicago in Ottawa. All proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish Illinois.

This will be the 14th annual Penguin Plunge bringing the community together in a crazy fun way while helping to grant wishes. Choose to do the full plunge as an individual or as a team or, elect to just dip your toes. Registration is free, though all participants are asked to raise or give $100 per plunger or the equivalent of that amount for each team member.

“We’re excited to have a great combination of new and returning teams, including some wish alumni families,” said Ashley White, gift officer for Make-A-Wish Illinois. “There’s nothing like the feeling of these groups coming together to give wish kids hope for the future.”

Participants can spend time with friends enjoying live music, food, and beverages before plunging. A local wish family will also share about the importance of the experience and the lasting impact of a wish. Penguin Plunge is made possible by several sponsors including Vactor, Constellation LaSalle Station, Financial Plus Credit Union and Shoreline Boat Club Ottawa.

About Make-A-Wish Illinois
Since being founded locally in 1985, Make-A-Wish Illinois has granted more than 18,000 wishes and continues its mission to share the power of a wish® with children across the state with help from dedicated volunteers and generous community members. Make-A-Wish Illinois seeks to grant a wish to every child with an eligible condition because a wish is an integral part of a child's treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness. For information, visit wish.org/Illinois.
