A Sweet Ride For A Sweet Boy 

Tommy’s genetic disorder causes severe and dangerous seizures, developmental delays and other health problems. He’s non-verbal and was diagnosed with autism. Despite these issues, Tommy is a sweet kid. His parents say that everyone who has spent time with Tommy has fallen in love with him, and Tommy always reciprocates that love. 

His favorite activities are watching the movie Almost Angels (It’s the only movie he watches.) and riding in four-wheeled vehicles. When Tommy was little, his brother drove him around in a blue Fisher-Price Jeep. When Tommy got too big for the Jeep, he’d sit on the roof and wait for his brother to drive, but his brother was also too big! Any time Tommy takes a car ride, he leaps into the vehicle not caring where it’s going, and he can get so excited waiting for the bus, his parents worry that he might hyperventilate. 

It was clear that Tommy’s wish had to be something that involved a four-wheeled vehicle, and since Tommy loved that Fisher-Price Jeep, it only made sense to replace it with something that would fit and something that would him last for a long time. For his wish, Tommy received a Make-A-Wish® blue golf cart. Now, everyone in his family can give Tommy a ride around the neighborhood any time he needs one. He doesn't have to sit on the roof either.
