Hope for Avery

Avery loves animals, especially her dog, Luna, and her many cats.

Her grandparents, who live a mile away, own a farm with pigs and chickens that Avery gets to care for regularly. Farm life agrees with her. When given a wish, Avery asked for a miniature cow that she could look at in the eyes and take care of.

In 2021, Avery was diagnosed with a genetic disorder for which there is currently no treatment. Her family remains hopeful however, choosing to focus on the positives like the wonderful friends, family and community who have all rallied behind Avery during her time of need. The community helped grant Avery's wish, too. Rumors Pub raised money in honor of the wish, and Independent Fence Company donated the fencing.

It took a little investigating (as this is the first wish of its kind in Idaho), but Make-A-Wish® Idaho found the perfect cow, a 300-lb purebred lowline angus who was immediately dubbed 'Hope.' Since Avery's diagnosis, her family's motto has become "Hope for Avery."

Hope will live on Avery's grandparents' farm in a structure built specifically for the miniature bovine. Now, Avery will be able to visit her friend Hope everyday and take good care of her.
