Good Things Come to Those Who Wait
Kaden is described as a sweet and giving kid who is incredibly strong and positive. He likes RC cars, riding his mountain bike downhill, snowboarding, driving his car, watching Adam Sandler movies, and hiking. He also enjoys spending time with his family, especially sharing a meal with them.
He started treatment for leukemia in 2024, and he’ll likely be undergoing chemotherapy until 2026 or 2027 which is a fairly standard amount of time for this condition. His family lives over fifty miles away from Boise, and they must commute often for his doctor’s appointments.
“This came out of nowhere. One day we are having family dinner, and the next day we are in E.R. Never take for granted having your kids in their beds safe and healthy every night. We will always cherish Kaden’s funny personality and willingness to make all of us happy," Kaden's mom wrote.
Kaden chose a wish trip to Hawaii to relax and recharge with his family after countless doctor visits and commutes. He dreamt of swimming in cool, blue tropical waters and lounging on soft, sandy beaches.
His wish was initially scheduled for World Wish Month 2025, and Flying Pie Pizzaria stepped up to help make his one true wish a reality. Every Tuesday in April, ten percent of their sales would go to Make-A-Wish® Idaho in honor of Kaden’s wish. They also held a trivia night fundraiser and Kaden and his family drove to Boise to attend and participate. The theme was 80’s and 90’s trivia. (Make-A-Wish Idaho staff won second place.)
Kaden’s wish hit a setback when his treatment plan suddenly changed, and his doctor said the wish would have to be rescheduled for the fall. Although he was disappointed, Kaden remained positive.
“After everything Kaden has been through, seeing him smile again and look forward to his Make-A-Wish trip to Hawaii is nothing short of incredible. We’re deeply grateful to Flying Pie Pizza for their generosity, kindness, and the love they’ve poured into making this moment possible. It means the world to our family,” Kaden’s mom, Kristina said.
Six months later, Kaden was able to travel. On his plane trip, Kaden was able to sit in the cockpit, meet the pilots of his plane, and he even got to stick his hand out the window of the plane while his family took photos.
He stayed at a beachside hotel with a majestic view and easy access to the ocean. During his six-day trip, he went on a snorkeling tour in a catamaran and sought out underwater sightings of dolphins, rays, and whales.
Kaden also got up close and personal with sharks during a cage-diving experience. He took a boat and traveled three miles off the shore, before he climbed into a sturdy cage and descended into the water. There, Kaden and brave family members watched Galapagos and sandbar sharks and may have even seen rarer sharks like the hammerhead or the tiger shark.
After a week of underwater adventures and fun in the sun, Kaden and family returned home safe and sound.
