A Beautiful Ballerina

Adele is a four-year-old battling a brain tumor.

She's spent many uncomfortable hours enduring medical procedures, sitting in doctor's offices, undergoing physical therapy and at the hospital. Adele wanted an experience that was fun and just for her. She wished to feel free from the burdens of her illness.

Adele loves watching ballerinas; the way they glide and move with such elegance and how they seem to transcend the shackles of gravity and take flight. It's why she wished to be a ballerina for a day, and it was important to her that the experience didn't feel like physical therapy.

On the day of her of wish, she arrived in a stately limousine at Ballet Idaho, the state's premier ballet company. Adele was given gifts and presented with her very own tutu, a ballerina's signature uniform designed to create the illusion of weightlessness.

The instructors took Adele under their wings, teaching her delicate movements, the refined feet positions and the noble plié. Adele smiled as she danced beautifully. She really had become a ballerina!

"Ballet Idaho so much enjoyed being a part of something so meaningful in helping to grant Adele's wish to become a ballerina! What a heartening experience to watch Adele at the ballet barre high up on her toes, following the instructor, as she moved her arms like the White Swan," said Emily Wallace, the Academy Director at Ballet Idaho.

"Ballet Idaho exists to enrich the lives of our community members through dance and education, but Adele enriched our lives with her visit to our studio. It was an incredible honor and gift for our team to meet this wonderful girl and spend some time with her. We are grateful to Make-A-Wish® Idaho for the tremendous work they do in our community, and for giving Ballet Idaho a chance to share the art we love with Adele," said Laura Mulkey, Excutive Director of Ballet Idaho.

Help us make wishes like Adele's come true.
