Make-A-Wish® Idaho Grants Josie’s Wish to go to New York City

Hayden wish kid receives wish to go to the Big Apple

Hayden, Idaho: Josie, a twelve-year-old from Hayden, who lives with cystic fibrosis, was one of 14 children to have a wish granted this year as a result of a Make-A-Wish® partnership with Genentech, a member of the Roche Group.

For her wish, Josie and family traveled to New York City in April. They enjoyed Broadway musicals like The Lion King and The Little Shop of Horrors, saw the Statue of Liberty and Coney Island and visited world-famous art museums like the MOMA and the Met. Josie, a foodie, also sampled a portion of the city’s seemingly endless cuisine.

For the fourth consecutive year, Genentech, partnered with Make-A-Wishto help grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The partnership with Genentech, a biotechnology company dedicated to discovering and developing medicines for people with serious and life-threatening diseases, continues to enable Make-A-Wish Idaho and other chapters to bring hope to wish kids across the country.

“Wishes can improve a child’s quality of life and may give them a may give them more emotional and physical strength to fight their illness,” said Janie Best, President and CEO at Make-A-Wish Idaho. “The partnership with Genentech allows us to continue to spark joy and create hope for many wish children and their families in Hayden by granting life-changing wishes.”

With support from its partners, Make-A-Wish Idaho can help a child with a critical illness replace fear with confidence, anxiety with hope and sadness with joy. A wish can be an important part of the healing process, helping kids deal with and even overcome their illness. However, for every wish granted, three more are waiting.
