Spring is a time for new beginnings, and at Make-A-Wish Hawaii, we are excited to launch a new celebration of the power of wishes and the many people in our community who come together to grant them. This month marks our very first World Wish Month, in which we are inviting the community to invest in Make-A-Wish Hawaii and donate their time, talent, or treasure as a WishMaker.

Looking ahead to May, I am thrilled to celebrate the heroes in our community who make wishes come true. This year’s WISH! Gala theme is Heroes Unite, a reflection of the many heroes across our islands dedicated to transforming the lives of local keiki with critical illnesses. 

This and so much more is in the Spring issue of Wishful Thinking: 

• Julie’s wish to go to an Ivan Cornejo concert—a chance for this Lahaina teenager to embrace just being a teen after the emotional aftermath of the Lahaina fire and the mental and physical trauma of a cancer diagnosis. 
• David’s wish to go to Alaska and stay in an igloo. After surviving multiple surgeries, serious strokes, and cardiac arrest, leading to a heart transplant, this 13-year-old boy from Pearl City found renewed strength under the green glow of the Aurora Borealis.
• From devoted volunteers to generous partners, meet the heroes who will be honored at WISH! Heroes Unite.
• Spotlights on board member Julianne Erickson and Young Leaders Board member Randi Lau. Learn what led them to Make-A-Wish Hawaii and how each donate their time, talent and treasure as WishMakers.
• A glimpse into Aulani Wish Week, an immersive themed group wish experience for children who wish to go to Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa. 
• A heartfelt mahalo to Millwood ‘Ohana Productions, which has donated nearly $65,000 to Make-A-Wish Hawaii over the last 5 years.
