Program and Medical Outreach Intern
This internship is a summer (unpaid) internship within the program department. The primary focus is helping further develop and implement a medical outreach plan to increase the number of qualified referrals of children eligible for a wish, as well as research and identify gaps in conditions and referral communities we are missing.
The ideal candidate will have data analysis skills as well as experience conducting outreach efforts. This intern will report to the Senior Medical Outreach Associate, with additional supervision and projects from other members of the program team.
Time Commitment:
This internship will allow you to work remotely, with a time commitment of 10-15 hours per week June through August 2021. You may be required to attend virtual team meetings, as well as training sessions.
Tasks Include:
- Evaluating and analyzing data of existing medical referral sources
- Researching and compiling additional referral resources and contacts in more remote or underserved areas in our chapter’s region, with the goal of reaching every medically eligible child
- Creating and maintaining database of potential and new referral sources
- Assist in referral source stewardship and appreciation efforts
Requirements:
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion in written and verbal communication
- Strong research and data analysis background
- Phone presence and email correspondence, as well as strong attention to detail
- Desire to contribute to the mission of Make-A-Wish
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework and knowledge of medicine, nursing, psycho-social services and/or CCLS
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or other CRM platform
- Foreign language skills, particularly Spanish or Mandarin, are a plus
