Marketing Research Intern
Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area is seeking a highly motivated intern to join our team for the summer and assist with research and storytelling for our 40th anniversary campaign, launching in 2024. The intern will play a crucial role in researching the history of our organization, developing a timeline of milestones, and identifying interesting facts and anecdotes that will be used to create engaging content for our anniversary campaign.
This internship can be partially remote, but must spend some time each week in person at our office in downtown Oakland, with a time commitment of 15-20 hours per week June through August 2023. The internship begins the week of June 12, 2023.
This is a paid internship; compensation is $18/hour. College credit may be available depending on the requirements of your college or university.
- Research the history of our organization, including key milestones, notable achievements, and media mentions since our founding in 1984
- Interview key staff members, volunteers, wish alumni and others who can provide insight into our chapter’s story
- Assess, organize, and digitize our physical and online archives
- Help build out a timeline of important events, milestones, and achievements
- Write up short-form stories and anecdotes to be used in campaign materials
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, stay organized, and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- Passion for nonprofit work and interest in social impact
- Familiarity with digital asset management systems preferred
- Experience with archival research and archival best practices a plus
- Experience conducting interviews a plus
Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Library, Social Science, or related field preferred
