Make-A-Wish Day at the A's

Wish kids bring joy to the ballpark

On Sunday, September 17, the Oakland Athletics invited wish kids and their families to the field for another joyous Make-A-Wish Day at the A’s. The wish alums met left fielder Tony Kemp and mascot Stomper during pre-game, and then took to the field to welcome the team. Wish kid Juliana threw out the first pitch and wish kid Akira shouted “play ball!” to kick off the game against the San Diego Padres. For anyone who purchased tickets through the special link, the A’s donated a portion of those ticket sales back to Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area.

“I’m grateful to the Athletics for their generosity in hosting a fun-filled day in support of wish granting,” says CEO Betsy Biern. “The smiles on the faces of our wish kids as they took the field showed what is possible when our community comes together to give back. Thank you for showcasing the joy inherent in a wish come true!”
