Words about the song: “This song is very special to our family. It was the first song we played for our wish girl Avery when she was born. Avery, her sister, and I have been referring to ourselves as the ‘Three Little Birds’ since my husband passed away six years ago. The lyrics are soothing and inspire hope that ‘every little thing is gonna be alright.”

Words about the song: “A friend shared this song with me. And it shows me that we are not alone in this journey. It became like a meditation for three minutes and my shoulders would relax and I could take a few deep breaths.  Life slows down when you have a child with disabilities and this was a beautiful reminder of what is important in life.”

Words about the song: "I sang this song to Parker when he was intubated and sedated after his liver transplant.  

The lyrics…“one step closer... waiting for you...don’t be afraid... I will be brave... I will not let anything take away what is standing in front of me.”Parker was 16 when he had his transplant and is now nearly 23. I have told him I want ‘A Thousand Years’ to be the song for our mother/son dance at his wedding...(someday!) :)"

My husband and I alternated nights, and either staying in the hospital comforting Jericho or spending the night at home with Jericho's twin sister, Tomi. On the nights that I rested on a low blue cot in the corner of Jericho's room on the 7th floor of UCSF, I didn't sleep much. But when I did, I fell asleep to this song, often with tears running down my face.”
