Summary

Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area is seeking an Events Marketing Associate to join our chapter as part of the Marketing team. The Events Marketing Associate reports to our Marketing Content Manager and supports the planning and promotion of fundraising and community events through strong digital marketing and content coordination, with occasional on-the-ground event support. This part-time, hourly, non-exempt position is currently required to work in our Oakland office at least one day a week (Tuesday or Wednesday) as part of our hybrid work model.

Compensation: $28-$32/hour based on skills and experience

Make-A-Wish® Greater Bay Area is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that fulfills the wishes of children between the ages of 2-1/2 and 18 who have critical illnesses. Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area was founded in 1984 and has fulfilled the wishes of more than 10,000 children in its 42-year history. The Greater Bay Area chapter is headquartered in Oakland and serves 17 Northern California counties, from Monterey County to the Oregon border.

Responsibilities

As the Events Marketing Associate at Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area, you will play a key role in ensuring our events are consistently branded, well-promoted, and supported across digital platforms and other event touchpoints.

Event Promotion and Execution Support

  • Support promotional planning and execution for internal and external events, including galas, walks, partner fundraisers, and volunteer and wish alumni events
  • Coordinate event marketing timelines, deliverables, and asset needs across Events, Development, Volunteer & Wish Alumni, and Marketing teams
  • Assist with on-site event needs as required, including registration support, photography coordination, and real-time content capture and posting
  • Help gather and package post-event content (photos, highlights, key moments) for guest stewardship and recap communications

Digital Marketing

  • Assist with developing and deploying event-related marketing assets, including email, social media, web pages, toolkits, and digital advertising creatives
  • Prepare and schedule social media content across platforms, ensuring alignment with brand voice and campaign goals
  • Support email marketing execution, including drafting, coordinating approvals, and scheduling sends
  • Assist with webpage updates and event landing pages, including content entry, updates, and QA
  • Support digital advertising execution, including preparing assets, coordinating campaign launches, and tracking performance in collaboration with the Marketing Content Manager
  • Track and compile performance metrics across email, social, web, advertising, and event participation

Requirements

  • Ability to support and lead activities at events for extended periods, including moving throughout event spaces as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • May require travel dependent on organization needs within 17-county territory
Education & Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in marketing, communications, events, or a related field (nonprofit experience preferred) 
  • Experience supporting digital marketing efforts, including email and social media platforms like Marketing Cloud and Sprout Social
  • Experience supporting fundraising or community events preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Clear, professional written communication skills
  • Interest in marketing analytics and performance tracking
  • Comfort working collaboratively across teams in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
  • PC literate – Microsoft 365, including SharePoint and Teams; Salesforce experience a plus
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
