Summary

Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area is a wish-granting organization. Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Our Chapter serves children from Monterey to the Oregon border west of Interstate 5. Each wish is unique and is the dream of a child who is critically ill, the resulting smiles speak volumes to the healing effects of a wish come true.

Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area is hiring an events intern for the summer of 2022. This intern will be working with our Events Department to supplement the work done to raise money for wishes, through fundraising events, especially our Wishes on the Vine wine-tasting event.

Commitment:

  • 8 hours per week; flexible.
  • This is a hybrid internship, with most of the work being remote, but 4 hours per week taking place at the Make-A-Wish office in downtown Oakland, either on a Tuesday or a Wednesday afternoon. Willing to consider fully remote internship for the right candidate.
  • Start and end dates are flexible, based on your summer availability, but should encompass the entire summer.
  • The pay is $18/hour.
Responsibilities
  • Assistance with Wishes on the Vine auction prep:
    • Solicitation of auction items via email and/or phone calls
    • Research on items/companies to solicit for auction items
    • Data input in Greater Giving software
    • Printing collateral for auction
  • Help send out handwritten thank you cards to event committee members and donors
  • Kids for Wish Kids (fundraising program for elementary, middle school, and high school students)
    • Help with list generation and research to grow mailing lists
    • Mailing collateral to partnering schools/contacts
Requirements
  • Passion for the mission and vision of Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area
  • Good organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Professional demeanor
  • Familiarity with Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Interest in fundraising
  • Internet research, especially on LinkedIn and other social media platforms
  • Self-starter, desire to learn more about the nonprofit industry and fundraising practices
  • Development, fundraising, database, and nonprofit experience is preferred.
Chapter Benefits
