Donor Spotlight: Rishi Dixit & Georgia Dean
Rishi Dixit and Georgia Dean stay busy—recently engaged, the pair is planning a wedding, working full time, and going above and beyond for Make-A-Wish.
They’ve served on our chapter’s Young Professional Advisory Council, offered up their time as volunteers and planned, attended and hosted many fundraising events. This year, Dixit is serving on the Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area Development Committee. And recently, they’ve even asked guests to donate to our chapter in lieu of gifts at their upcoming wedding!
“Especially within our generation—a lot of our friends are in their late twenties or early thirties—this is an important time to get people engaged,” says Dean. Things are really tough from a financial perspective, for Make-A-Wish and for all nonprofits. That’s just another reason why this is a great opportunity to give back,” adds Dixit.
Dixit and Dean have become advocates for the Make-A-Wish mission—spreading the word among their friends, family, and coworkers, who have in turn become donors, council members, and fundraisers.
“Make-A-Wish has a great level of brand awareness, but I think the next step is to get people to engage,” says Dean. “We’ve been fortunate to include our friends in events like the gala, and it’s really touching to have them attend and hear these stories right from the mouths of wish kids.”
And for those who decide to give back, says Dixit, the impact is immense. “Every time I hear from a wish parent, their story is unique, but one thing ties them all together: Make-A-Wish made a difference for them,” he explains. “We’re happy to continue to support an organization that does that for so many kids around the world.”
