Our 2,000th wish: Aaron's wish to be a cowboy

Aaron, born with sickle cell disease, faced regular medical checkups and medication to support his compromised immune system. At the age of five, he became the distinguished 2,000th wish kid of Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area.

Fueled by a passion for the western lifestyle and a fascination with cowboys, Aaron knew precisely what he wanted for his wish—to be a cowboy.

Aaron, along with his mother Judith, embarked on a transformative wish experience at Zenchiku Land & Livestock Ranch in Dillon, Montana—a bustling working ranch. During this adventure, Aaron received all the essential gear for an authentic cowboy experience, including two pairs of cowboy boots and two new fishing poles. The itinerary was packed with exciting activities, including a warm welcome Bar-B-Que, horseback riding lessons, fishing, and active participation in the ranch's Annual Rodeo.

Thriving in his cowboy role, Aaron enthusiastically took part in the rodeo parade, riding proudly on his pony. Aaron's mother, Judith, shared during Aaron’s wish experience, “Aaron loved everything! He really hammed it up at the rodeo parade. There was nothing but high points to his trip.”

In 1992, Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area celebrated Aaron and his wish to be a cowboy as the 2,000th wish for the chapter. The festivities unfolded at Marine World Africa, where thousands of wish kids and their families came together to celebrate this milestone.

Since then, Aaron has become an inspiring wish ambassador for Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area. He has passionately shared his wish story and also participated in several fundraisers, including Wine for Wishes and our annual bowl-a-thon.
