This year, over 140 Connecticut wish kids are wishing to travel.

Many major airlines enable frequent flyer program members to donate their unused miles to Make-A-Wish, allowing us to turn those miles into airline tickets for wish-related travel. Once miles are donated, they never expire.

Participating airlines include:

• Delta Airlines
• United Airlines
• American Airlines
• JetBlue

• Percentage of wishes involving travel: more than 70% percent
• Number of round-trip tickets needed to grant wishes involving travel annually nationwide: 50,000
• Average number of miles needed for one domestic round-trip ticket: 150,000
• Average cost of a round-trip ticket: $750
