Traver's Wish

Bristol Myers Squibb did some heavy lifting for Traver's wish to have a home gym!

Traver is a 17-year-old boy who is a football fanatic. He plays for his high school and loves everything about the sport; not just the moments of glory on the field but also the day-to-day workouts with his team. He enjoys lifting weights and worked his way up to squatting 335 pounds! Unfortunately, his diagnosis with leukemia has made it difficult to play the sport he loves or work out with his teammates. So, when Traver found out he would have a wish granted by Make-A-Wish Colorado, he knew just what he wanted: a home gym!

Throughout Traver’s battle with leukemia, one thought that encouraged him during his hospital stays and treatment was being able to start exercising and playing sports again someday. He couldn’t wait to have a gym conveniently located in his own garage!

Traver’s wish reveal was a special event for his entire community! A crowd of over 40 friends and family members, including cheerleaders and football teammates from his high school, gathered in Traver’s driveway to cheer him on and experience the unveiling of his new home gym. When Traver opened the door to reveal the transformed garage, a huge smile lit up his face. He began exploring all of his new equipment, including a treadmill, a barbell rack, weights and a TV. He then invited all the attendees to check out the gym and enjoy some donuts with him before testing out his first reps!

Traver’s home gym will now be a place for him to hang out with friends and pursue his passion for fitness on his road to recovery from leukemia.

Traver’s wish and wishes just like his are possible thanks to partners like Bristol Myers Squibb. Thank you, Bristol Myers Squibb, for bringing hope and joy to children with critical illnesses by granting wishes for kids like Traver!
