POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Development Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Director of Community Development
STATUS: Full-time, exempt
LOCATION: Greenwood Village, Colorado (hybrid work flexibility available)
Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Beginning with one boy’s wish to be a police officer, we have evolved to be one of the world’s leading children’s charities, serving children in every community in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and over 200 volunteers, Make-A-Wish Colorado grants over 300 wishes a year.
Position Overview
The Development Coordinator plays a key role in advancing our mission and ensuring we can grant the wish of every eligible child in Colorado. This position works in partnership with the Director of Community Development and the Development Manager to support the chapter’s student-led fundraising program, Kids For Wish Kids® (KFWK). This includes support of the Youth Leadership Council and Youth Wish Champions alongside the Development Manager. Additional responsibilities include assisting with other fundraising programs and stewardship, as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Kids For Wish Kids:
- Maintain a portfolio of participants and work in partnership with them to maximize fundraising.
- Assist the Director of Community Development in creating and implementing strategies to identify new KFWK participants.
- Communicate with wish families to obtain photos and wish testimonies to share with KFWK supporters.
- Maintain appropriate records including proposal forms and database entry related to portfolio activity.
- Assist the Development Manager with the Youth Leadership Council and Youth Wish Champions and their activities
Other:
- Represent Make-A-Wish Colorado at events including speaking engagements.
- Ensure all events and projects are consistent with the mission and branding of Make-A-Wish Colorado.
- Assist with other fundraising project as directed by the Director of Community Development.
- Participate as a team player in attaining annual goals, objectives and long-range planning.
- Participate as a productive member of the team at development and staff meetings.
- Adhere to all Make-A-Wish America National Standards and Guidelines
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 – 2 years of experience working with students/student groups.
- Minimum 1 – 2 years of experience managing or supporting fundraising activities.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain long-term, mission aligned relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present the case for supporting Make-A-Wish Colorado to individuals and groups.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
- Self-motivated and goal oriented, with proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, team focused environment with staff, volunteers, interns, and donors.
- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to take on additional responsibilities to support organizational goals.
- Strong commitment to, and passion for, the mission of Make‑A‑Wish Colorado.

Working Conditions
This is a full-time, exempt position based in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
This role is primarily in-person but may include hybrid work arrangements, subject to organizational needs. Occasional evening and weekend work required.
Compensation
Salary Range: $45,000-$50,000 annually, plus incentive potential.
This position is eligible for annual performance-based bonuses and is part of our total rewards package, which includes comprehensive benefits and professional development opportunities.
