Gavin's Wish

Four-year-old Gavin from Oneida County has a short list of favorite things: playing cars and trucks, dance parties with big sister Grace, and watching Disney movies, especially “The Incredibles.”

Following a liver transplant, Gavin's once-in-a-lifetime wish trip to Walt Disney World® Resort came true in 2019 thanks to the generosity of the Walt Disney Company. During his weeklong trip, Gavin and his family traveled to Orlando, Florida and experienced a stay at Give Kids The World Resort, a special place just for wish kids. They enjoyed visiting the Disney parks and meeting Gavin’s favorite characters, while having the time of their lives. Gavin’s mom, Dana, said Gavin’s wish experience was “absolutely amazing.” “Make-A-Wish is an incredible foundation and I still get emotional thinking about how they really made Gavin smile and totally forget about all his medical stress,” she said. “They pulled out all the stops and really went above and beyond anything we could have imagined. Even for my husband and I, it was a breath of fresh air and I just felt like we could breathe for a minute. The magic of the whole week will stay with us forever. I can't thank you enough for granting my son his wish and for allowing us this amazing, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.” While still undergoing treatment, Gavin is doing well and is a happy pre-K student. Keep smiling, Gavin!
