Tucson volunteer Lori Davidek is inspired to grant wishes statewide

Lori Davidek is one of Make-A-Wish Arizona’s dedicated wish granting volunteers who resides in Tucson, Arizona.

Her inspiration to help kids and families dealing with critical illnesses stemmed from her personal experience with her niece, Chloe, who received her wish 12 years ago after she was diagnosed with cancer.

“I went on Chloe’s wish trip to Hawaii with her mom and best friend,” said Lori. “I remember one day we were so engaged in our conversation while swimming in the ocean, that we didn’t realize we drifted completely away from the shore!”

This is one of the many treasured memories Lori has kept close to her heart after Chloe passed.

“Chloe’s wish allowed us to spend so much quality time together. It was truly wonderful.”

Now, Lori is motivated to grant wishes and create lasting experiences for other kids and families. While she lives in Southern Arizona, currently she is working on 17 wishes for wish kids across the state!

“I like to work with kids who are battling the same form of cancer Chloe had,” she continued. “I also try to pick the children who have been waiting for their wish the longest.”

From wishes to have a ceramics studio to experiences to become a pilot for a day, Lori has granted more than 20 wishes to date.

“My first shopping spree wish was for a teenager named Mario,” Lori beamed. “His wish was right before prom, and I found the jacket he ended up wearing to the dance!”

This year, Lori has a goal of recruiting three people to become wish granters.

“It’s so meaningful to see these kids smile and give them something to look forward to,” Lori said. “As a volunteer, I help make every wish as special as the child who wished for it.”

“It doesn’t cost you anything to volunteer."

“It’s exciting, fulfilling, and I’m a huge believer in the law of attraction and what you put into the world is what you will get back.”
