Meet WishMaker Terri
Giving back to her community had always been important to Terri, but with a demanding schedule, she wasn’t sure where to start. When a friend introduced her to Make-A-Wish®, and she learned she could volunteer at events on her own time, the flexibility made it an easy and meaningful fit.
With events, you get to pick and choose what works with your schedule. It’s been very easy to stay involved with Make-A-Wish.

Terri quickly became a familiar face at her local Make-A-Wish events, and 30 years later, she’s still volunteering with the same joy, energy and commitment that inspired her to get involved. For Terri, the best part of volunteering is that there’s a role for everyone – whether you have only a few hours or the ability to give more time.
“There’s just so many different areas where you could get involved with Make-A-Wish, and it’s super easy,” Terri said. “No matter what your interests are, there’s something in Make-A-Wish that will fit you.” Recently, as her schedule opened up, Terri decided to take on a new WishMaker® role as a volunteer airport greeter – helping wish kids and their families navigate the airport as they set off to their wish destination. “Seeing somebody off [on a wish] that’s going to be really fun, I think that’s just exciting,” she said. “It’s just really fun, and it’s just so easy.”
Terri also takes great pride in knowing that the impact of her involvement reaches far and wide – to wish kids, their families and entire communities.
To hear the parents talk about how [the wish] gave them strength … it affects the whole family. And that’s really, really fun to see that everyone’s happy.

While Terri works to bring hope and joy to wish kids and their families, she finds the experience deeply fulfilling for herself, too. “These are wishes that they would probably never get to have done in their lifetime. And then here comes Make-A-Wish going, ‘What’s your wish? We’re going to make it happen.’ Why wouldn’t you want to be involved with something like that?”
