Make-A-Wish volunteers consider their work impactful and meaningful. And, their efforts are rewarded—not in dollars or cents, but in the incredible difference they make in the lives of our wish kids. Volunteers even have the freedom to choose when and how they would like to help transform lives in our community.

The Event volunteer role is ideal for someone who likes being active, moving quickly and completing different tasks. Event days are usually fast paced but can also bring some down time at different points in the timeframe. This volunteer will work with staff members and other volunteers to do anything needed in order to prep for the event.
The In-Kind volunteer will meet with businesses and/or make phone calls to obtain donations or discounts related to wish needs. This volunteer will need to be able to stay in contact with Make-A-Wish staff regularly about wish needs and changes that may occur.
The Office volunteer will conduct any office related task that is needed by Make-A-Wish Alabama staff including, but not limited to composing and mailing wish packets or other paperwork, organizing t-shirts, prepping for events, organizing office items or event items as needed.
The Project Manager will be the lead on any construction related wish (backyard playset, outdoor space, playhouse, studio, treehouse, etc.). Must have experience and knowledge related to installation, electricity, plumbing, construction, landscape, etc. and have connections to people and vendors that are needed to fulfill the requirements of the wish.
The Shopping Spree Assistant will help the lead stay organized by helping carry bags, encouraging and entertaining the child while purchases are being made, and engaging with the family.
The Shopping Spree Lead is responsible for completing all purchases with the Make-A-Wish Alabama credit card, organizing the receipts in a safe place and keeping up with the running total spent. This volunteer will make reservations for the meal, attend the meal with the family, help load bags, serve as the main contact for the limousine and any other vendor involved in the wish.
The Wish Boost volunteer will mail or drop off care packages or enhancements related to the wish that have been provided by the wish coordinator or the volunteer themselves.
The wish reveal volunteer will be on site for any big-ticket item or gift wish including, but not limited to campers, pools, ATVs, golf carts, etc. and will present the wish to the family along with any enhancements that are included. This volunteer will be responsible for getting balloons, cupcakes/cake, Make-A-Wish AL tablecloths, and anything else needed in order to complete the wish reveal.
