Yestin's Wish

What do you get when you combine a love for sports, a pool table, and a 17 year-old wish kid?

A man cave! Yestin’s wish for a room makeover came with all the essentials needed to transform a garage into his own, personal haven.

After being diagnosed with a genetic disorder, Yestin thought hard about what to wish for. At the very least, he knew he wanted a wish that would last and his pool table nearby, ready to rack. Shortly after moving into a new home, he and his family quickly discovered his pool table no longer fit into any space inside the house. This posed a problem for Yestin and that’s when the wish to makeover their garage came to be.

Due to Yestin’s genetic condition, his opportunity to play sports in high school waivered. Sometimes he could play, other times he could not. He craved a place where he could be a teenage boy, play video games, pool, board games, and watch football – especially the Wyoming Cowboys. Make-A-Wish Wyoming ensured the garage transformation included all of the above and then some. Make-A-Wish even had his pool table re-felted with a Wyoming Cowboys design and added a matching overhead pool light and chalkboard for scorekeeping.

In addition to the custom pool table, the makeover included a new TV, couch set, coffee tables, popcorn maker, and cotton candy machine. Together with his family, Yestin participated fully in his wish, contributing to the set up and customization of his new man cave. With his input and Make-A-Wish Wyoming’s help, it quickly became Yestin’s personal place to escape and enjoy himself.

“Now I have a place to go where I can play pool and other games with my friends. The pool table is definitely my favorite part,” Yestin said.

His mom, Amity, described the makeover as a time they got to spend together as a family. She knows this wish will be one that Yestin can enjoy for years to come.

“Yestin is an easy-going kid. He loved and agreed with all the decorations the Make-A-Wish team suggested. He loves sports, cars, video games, and history. As a senior in high school, he thought a room makeover would make a great gaming escape that he could have forever. He absolutely loved what Make-A-Wish did.”

It’s the little things and the details that bring a smile to a wish kid’s face and Make-A-Wish Wyoming was proud to participate in a wish as special and lasting as Yestin’s.
