National Believe Week

Macy’s and Make-A-Wish® Greater Virginia Celebrate National Believe Week with Henrico Girl Scout Troop’s Help to Make Wishes Come True

Girl Scout Troop 5107 sets the goal to collect and deliver 7,500 letters to Santa to Macy’s Short Pump Store.

Macy’s Believe campaign offers customers the opportunity to write their letters to Santa in-store or online at macys.com/believe – for every letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1 million.

WHAT: To celebrate Macy’s 14th annual Believe campaign, Henrico Girl Scout Troop 5107 has set a goal to collect and deliver 7,500 letters to Santa to Macy’s Short Pump Store location to help raise money to support Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia mission to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Girl Scout Troop 5107 has been writing and collecting letters to Santa as part of Macy’s annual Believe Campaign since 2012. In their first year they collected 255 letters. This annual event has grown into a community tradition with a goal of collecting 7,500 this year.

For almost 10 years, Girl Scout Troop 5107’s delivery has been a local Believe Week tradition. National Believe Week provides customers with the opportunity to double their donations ($2 per letter, up to an additional $1 million) for a full week from Sunday, Nov. 28 through Saturday, Dec. 4.

Since 2003, Macy’s has partnered with Make-A-Wish to help grant wishes to children fighting critical illnesses during Macy’s holiday Believe letter-writing campaign. From Nov. 1 through Dec. 24, for every letter sent to Santa online at Macys.com or dropped off in Macy’s stores, Macy’s donates $1, up to $1 million, to help make wishes like Pastor’s come true.

About Macy’s Believe Campaign
Macy’s beloved Believe letter-writing campaign, in partnership with Make-A-Wish, gives customers of all ages the opportunity to send letters and deliver wishes. From Nov. 1 through Dec. 24, for every letter sent to Santa online at macys.com/believe or dropped off in Macy’s stores nationwide, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1 million, to help children fighting critical illnesses’ life-changing wishes come true.

With support from the Macy’s Believe campaign, Make-A-Wish grants wishes for children with critical illnesses, allowing them to replace fear with confidence, anxiety with hope and sadness with joy. Since 2003, Macy’s has donated more than $137 million to Make-A-Wish, including nearly $25 million through the retailer’s annual Believe campaign, helping grant more than 16,000 wishes and impacting more than 3.1 million people, including wish kids and their families, volunteers, community groups, medical professionals and more.

About Make-A-Wish
Make-A-Wish®creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We are on a quest to bring every eligible child's wish to life because a wish is an integral part of a child's treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness. Headquartered in Richmond, Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia has granted more than 5,300 wishes since 1987. Together, generous donors, supporters, staff and volunteers throughout Virginia grant a wish, on average, every 48 hours.
