Ja'Milah's Cheerleader Wish
Ja’Milah, a 16-year-old with a nervous system disorder, had her wish to be a cheerleader come true thanks to Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia and a partnership with VCU Cheerleading.
Though she had no previous experience in cheerleading or dance, she spent countless hours watching videos of cheer competitions and routines. Ja’Milah was given the opportunity to learn from experienced cheerleaders who helped her master the fundamentals and build her confidence in the sport she has admired for so long.
The moment she took the floor to cheer during a VCU Men’s Basketball game was one of pure joy and accomplishment.Â
She had so much fun. It was amazing to see her smile the way she did. She did everything they taught her how to do. She wasn’t nervous. She wasn’t scared. She was BRAVE.Â
