Summary

Reports To: Director of Development

Develop, lead and manage special events and implement all aspects of fundraising activities to support growth and budgetary goals throughout the chapter territory, with a focus in the greater Richmond area. Collaborate on event and campaign strategies with Director of Development, senior leadership, and volunteers.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee signature Make-A-Wish fundraising events and campaigns including Walk For Wishes, Wish Ball, External Events, and youth and young professional fundraising events.
  • Collaborate with Development Team to help plan, guide and direct strategies to secure new gifts from individual and corporate prospects as well as renew and upgrade gifts from previous donors through events and campaigns.
  • Recruit and partner with committee of community volunteers on Walk for Wishes and Wish Ball.
  • Manage an active portfolio of donors, securing gifts and visits with donors. 
  • Represent the organization at events, promotions and speaking engagements as appropriate.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the strategic fundraising plan and revenue budget.
  • Maintain donor recognition and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America on best practices and resources.
  • Manage procedures and practices to meet chapter ROI and revenue goals.
  • Utilize metrics for performance and measurement of success. 
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications team on event materials and generate content for event related communications.
  • Opportunity to supervise intern and volunteers to help drive fundraising event efforts.
  • Position requires some travel, evening and weekend work hours.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Requires excellent project management, customer service, interpersonal skills, writing and presentation skills, and attention to detail. Highly professional and able to work successfully with a wide variety of constituents including donors, board members, volunteers, community groups and professional consultants.
  • High levels of integrity, trustworthiness, flexibility, compassion, and humor are necessary to address the practicalities of a growing nonprofit, along with the creativity and persistence required to elicit new thinking and change.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, and work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel. Salesforce experience desirable.

Education & Experience
  • BS/BA or comparable experience required.
  • 3-5 years of event planning experience is desired; non-profit setting preferred.
