Tai's Story

Tai attends Pokémon University

When Tai was very young he was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery. This now energetic 8-year-old wished to be the ultimate Pokémon Master.  Tai’s interest was sparked early when he started school and he had become a Pokémon “Super Fan.” So, it was no surprise to his family that that his heartfelt wish was Pokémon related. During his first visit with Wish Granters, he eagerly showed off his large collection of Pokémon cards and his Pokémon costume, and he enthusiastically shared all he knew about Pokémon, making it clear that he wanted to achieve Pokémon Master status.

On his Wish day, Tai and his friends enjoyed their first limo ride to a local park. The park was filled with Pokémon decorations and volunteers dressed in character. Upon arrival, our Pokémon University professor outlined several challenges for Tai to complete to become a Pokémon Master. Tai was determined and up for the challenge - this was the day he had been waiting for!

Throughout the day, Tai conquered physical and mental challenges, including capturing and eliminating Pokémon, completing a Pokémon memory skill game, and for the final challenge a Pokémon video game. It all became real for him when he beat his opponents and his Nintendo DS confirmed that he was now as a Pokémon Master!

Tai and friends celebrate Pokemon university graduation

Tai was officially pinned a Pokémon Master by the Pokémon University professor in a special ceremony. Tai’s Dad said “Thank you, Make-A-Wish. You thought of every detail to make the wish special for everyone. It was an experience that we will never forget.”  There truly is (Pokémon) Power in a Wish!
