Jessica's Wish

I wish to see a Broadway musical

Since Jessica was 4-years-old, she has had a passion for dancing and music. Some of her fondest memories are of the times her mom took her and her older sister to see local musical productions. In July of 2019, Jessica was experiencing coughs and pains in her chest. After several tests and x-rays, Jessica was diagnosed with cancer and had to begin chemotherapy treatments immediately. The eager 18-year-old had just started her first week as a freshman in college when she had to drop out due to her new treatment plan.

During her treatments and visits to the hospital, Jessica would listen to musicals like Wicked, Beetlejuice, Frozen, and Aladdin. This pastime helped keep her positive and upbeat during a challenging time. When volunteer Wish Granters met with Jessica to discuss her heartfelt wish, she shared her dream of visiting New York City to see one of her favorite musicals on Broadway. When the trip became a reality in January of 2020 - before COVID postponed all wish travel, it was everything she dreamed it would be and more. Jessica and her family were surprised by a limo to take them to the airport. Once in New York City, she spent almost a week visiting many of the famous tourist attractions she’d heard about, including the Statue of Liberty. She even got to take a carriage ride through Central Park! But, the highlight of the entire trip was seeing Wicked on Broadway. Jessica and her family dressed up for the special occasion. They were blown away by every aspect of the magical production.

Jessica immediately fell in love with the city and looks forward to moving there one day. Jessica shared, “I had such an amazing trip, thanks to Make-A-Wish! I had been waiting for the day I would be able to go to New York City and explore the place I hope to live. Make-A-Wish finally made my dream come true!”
