Summary
The Event Manager is responsible for overseeing annual MAW events, including all external events and events held at The Wishing Place.
Responsibilities
Event
- Develop and work with Event Specialist to implement the MAWSNV annual event plan, including event timing, purpose of events, and fundraising goals
- Manages all aspects of executing events at The Wishing Place and Marketing events, including overseeing any related event volunteer committees (includes Donor Appreciation, Volunteer Appreciation, World Wish Day, etc.)
- Oversees all aspects of third-party (external) events, including Kids For Wish Kids©. This includes managing the discovery and approval process, executing agreements, and securing any volunteers as needed when applicable
- Ensures the Events Specialist is administering all aspects of planning and achieving successful events, including Walk For Wishes, Trailblaze Challenge, and Fashion Luncheon
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop any relevant collateral materials and deploy marketing strategies for events as needed
- Understand and utilize the features of internal customer relationship databases in providing a moves management approach to capturing and maintaining all event and donor information (examples: Raiser’s Edge and Team Raiser)
Administrative
- Lead, manage, and hold accountable direct report to include quarterly reviews, coaching, mentoring, motivating and corrective counseling when necessary
- Relay departmental information to staff, when necessary
- Set goals for events and hold direct reports accountable and on task
- Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the VP of Marketing & Development, Chief Operations Officer, and Chief Executive Officer that are related to the fundamental aspects of the Event Manager position
Supervision
- This position reports directly to the Vice President of Development & Marketing
- This position manages, leads, and holds accountable the Event Specialist, volunteers and interns when appropriate to achieve annual goals by providing training, guidance, and direction using MAW policies, guidelines, and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum three years of Event Management experience required
- Minimum three years strong, comprehensive staff or volunteer management experience
- Must possess excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
- Excellent computer skills required (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel)
- Data-entry/customer relationship database experience required. Raiser’s Edge experience preferred
- Must be self-motivated, creative, detail-oriented, and excel in problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Ability to deal with sensitive information with high confidentiality
- Excellent communication and customer service skills with the capacity to interact with diverse groups and work successfully in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Ability to connect with people and engage others in the mission of the organization
