Colin is Ready to Hit the Trails!

For 13-year-old Colin, exploring the great outdoors and going camping are his greatest pastimes. Basking in the fresh air while being surrounded by his loved ones inspired Colin to wish for something that could help him go on even more adventures with minimal difficulty—an all-terrain wheelchair.

As a newborn, Colin was diagnosed with a severe nervous system disorder, and has since endured 12 surgeries to treat his condition in addition to being wheelchair-bound. Although he’s unable to verbalize his thoughts and feelings, Colin has never let his diagnosis hold him back from doing what he loves the most. A positive and bubbly teenager, Colin never fails to have a smile on his face.

Colin and his family love to explore new places and take advantage of every opportunity to load up their RV and hit uncharted trails. Colin’s growth, however, has become more problematic for his parents, who found it difficult to physically lift and carry Colin to their favorite off-the-beaten-paths. “Our biggest thing with Colin is always trying to keep his world as normal as possible,” said Kari, Colin’s mom.

On the day of his wish, Colin and his parents walked into the Subaru of Las Vegas showroom and, to Colin’s surprise, were welcomed by cheering supporters and extended family members. After being read his wish proclamation by Burton Hughes, general manager at Subaru of Las Vegas, Colin made his way over to a large gift that was hidden underneath a silver cloth and shiny blue blow. His all-terrain wheelchair had at last arrived!

The great outdoors is meant for everyone, regardless of their physical condition, and for someone like Colin, this is something we know is going to help change his life for the better.

“The great outdoors is meant for everyone, regardless of their physical condition, and for someone like Colin, this is something we know is going to help change his life for the better,” said Burton. To make his wish even more special, the team at Subaru of Las Vegas also gifted Colin with a few items for him to bring along on his adventures, such as a Bluetooth speaker, illuminating LED lights for his wheelchair, and even a portable piano keyboard.

Thanks to the generosity of his wish sponsor, Subaru of Las Vegas, Colin can now enjoy venturing through the wilderness with his very own all-terrain wheelchair. It camp get any better than that!
