Scarlett underwent a heart transplant because as she describes, “I had a broken heart so I got it replaced.”

She loves to dance and wished to meet The Rockettes because they inspire her to work hard. She adds, “You don’t dance because someone makes you – you dance because you love it. “

“It was the most amazing experience to have a stress-free week in New York City. We've been through a lot together. It’s so emotional that it’s hard for me to put into words.”

While in the Big Apple, Scarlett and her family rode on as many modes of transportation as they could, many of them for the first time. She was amazed at the inside of the limousine, loved flying, taking the subway, the tram and Ubers too. One day, they took a taxi to ice skate in Central Park before riding a rickshaw to Rockefeller Center to attend a dance class with the Rockettes.

Scarlett, who wore a mini version of a Rockettes costume, enjoyed learning moves from the toy soldier scene from the “Christmas Spectacular” the most. She asked many questions and spent quality time with the Rockettes, who taught her what it’s like to be a Rockette and gave her many treasured souvenirs.

“I will always remember meeting the Rockettes. It was super cool. They made me feel happy. They were really kind, and they enjoyed meeting me too because I am kind."

Scarlett said the Rockettes are really good with dancing. "It was really hard. If I practiced more, I would get even better.”

Watching her new friends in the “Christmas Spectacular” at the famous Rockefeller Center was unforgettable. Her favorite part was the toy soldier scene because “it takes forever and sounds so weird when they fall on top of each other.” Scarlett said, “It was so, so, so cool. I loved it and it was like WOW!” Fake snow fell during the performance, and Scarlett got a kick out of it sticking in her dad’s hair. She took “a dozen pieces home to keep as a memory.”

With a big smile, Scarlett declared, “Thank you Make-A-Wish. My wish was important to my whole family because I have been through a lot. It was important to my family to celebrate me.”

Since returning from her dream vacation, Scarlett has a more positive mindset and stronger determination to tackle the stress and demands of her medical battle. Meeting the Rockettes taught her about perseverance and that life isn’t always easy. Her mother said, “The Rockettes train so hard to be so perfect. It shows that they are dedicated enough to be strong. Scarlett keeps smiling. She doesn’t ask why this is happening to her, and just keeps going. She amazes me, when I just want to break down.”
