Hannah's Fin-tastic Wish

Growing up in Tampa, 6-year-old Hannah has seen dolphins and always thought they were cool, but she never had the opportunity to touch her favorite animal.

In October 2019, Hannah was diagnosed with leukemia and underwent months of intense chemo treatments. As she reached the maintenance phase, the pandemic happened.

Hannah’s most heartfelt wish was a Florida Keys vacation so she could get up close with a dolphin. Her vacation plans were set two months beforehand. According to her mother, Hannah couldn’t sleep for the past week because of the anticipation, and she packed about three days early.

Our entire world was turned upside down. She’s endured so much. She hasn’t been able to attend school or see her friends. This wish is exactly what she needs to keep going!

A nature lover, Hannah has also been known to rescue small animals by her home. During their stay at the Key Largo Bay Marriott, there were lots of exciting animal-related adventures. She and her parents went on a glass bottom boat ride to see the mesmerizing sea life sail just beneath their feet. There was also a trip to Theater of the Sea for a unique “Painting with a Sea Lion” experience.

Swimming with Leo the Dolphin was de-FIN-itely the highlight for Hannah. She showed off her impressive dolphin knowledge in the info session with the trainer before getting in the water. Then it was time to get acquainted with Leo. Hannah was amazed at how smart and fast Leo was. He performed tricks, splashed her and jumped high above her head. It was an experience she and her parents will never forget.

Leo’s cute and really funny! He made funny sounds and stuff that made me laugh. He felt like a hard boiled egg on his belly and silky on his back. Thank you for making my wish come true.
