Emily Embraces Her Childhood

At just 14 years old, Emily has already endured more than 120 surgeries for a variety of medical issues, and spent more of her days in hospitals than out.

Immuno-compromised and with issues dealing with heat, Emily is nearly always indoors, without opportunities to go to parks or places to play.

Having a backyard playground is the perfect solution for Emily. The customized playset features an avalanche slide, staircase, several types of swings, a shaded canopy, and a clubhouse equipped with fans to keep her cool. Emily can have her own safe “diva den” to just be a kid, enjoy the outdoors, and even use it as part of her physical therapy.

“Emily’s world is a small bubble. She didn’t have a lot of childhood joy just to be a kid. This playground is way above and beyond what we thought it was going to be."

He added, "This wish gives her so much happiness. It allows her to be a kid and to recapture those moments that were gone.”

Emily’s wish reveal party was a celebration of her very own space! She is ready to dance, play, and swing! But her playground will help celebrate Emily every day. “This is a comforting place for her. It’s like her own little theme park inside our backyard. She is thrilled, and it really gets us into her world too.”
