David Says Aloha

David Says Aloha

Diagnosed one and a half years ago with leukemia, David’s medical battle was full of complications including a bout of pneumonia and a 4-month hospital stay. He is now approaching remission.

David has a big crush on Moana. He has watched the movie countless times, and always dreamt of visiting Hawaii. More than anything, after all he’s been through, he has wanted time to relax, visit the beach and make memories with his family.

Soon David, his sisters and his mother were off to Maui for his wish vacation! There was a trip to the cockpit with the pilot before takeoff, and a special ‘aloha’ and lei greeting once they arrived in Hawaii. He knew from that moment that this would be the most amazing trip ever!

“It was like a dream. Before his wish, his health was fading. To see him that happy, my heart was full of joy. It was amazing!”

Every detail was taken care of so all that David and his family had to worry about was what to do next. David fell in love with every experience – snorkeling, an authentic luau with hula dancers, and of course, the opportunity to meet Moana! David went horseback riding at a ranch for the first time. He loved it so much that he and his family were invited back the following day for more equine fun.

David’s mother said, “Because of Make-A-Wish, David is happier. He felt like he was dreaming. He now believes that dreams do come true. If you wish it and dream it, it will happen. Now he says he wants to go to Paris.”
