Eight-year-old Hiram, who lives with a neuromuscular disorder, recently embarked on a journey that blended science, nature, and heartwarming moments. His wish took him all the way to the Florida Keys for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, where he spent an unforgettable day learning about the world of rescued sea turtles.
From the moment he arrived, Hiram was treated to a behind-the-scenes look at how sea turtles are cared for, fed, and rehabilitated. With wide eyes and an eager spirit, he helped feed the turtles and listened closely as experts explained the delicate process of healing and releasing these incredible creatures.
One of the most moving moments came when Hiram got to help release the baby turtles that couldn’t return to the ocean themselves by moving them to the water himself.

The day was filled with wonder and discovery, but it was also deeply meaningful for Hiram and his family.
“After a really busy year—we moved across the country—this has been great. We could never thank you enough for this. It’s just extraordinary.”
Hiram’s wish wasn’t just a day at the nature center—it was a celebration of curiosity, courage, and the healing power of hope.
