Summary

The Marketing and Communications Manager is accountable for coordinating and implementing marketing, communication, PR, creative services, digital marketing, and brand development strategies for Make-A-Wish South Carolina.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, manage, and execute marketing plan and budget.
  • Develop and implement a structured annual marketing plan to reach target audience, including (but not limited to) creating collateral, messaging, social media, advertising, public relations and communications and traditional media with a vision and path to larger 3-year plan.
  • Provide data analytics and regular reporting to track, monitor and inform marketing strategy and outcomes across all channels.
  • Design MAWSC collateral in-house as appropriate and ensure branding and materials are current.
  • Digitize all marketing collateral materials to latest digital delivery methods and technologies for ease of messaging and enhanced user/intended audience experience.
  • Oversee all project management workflow of marketing department including creative requests, campaign development, etc.  Meticulously manage the production calendar and associated deadlines.
  • Plan, oversee, and manage for budget for general marketing, events marketing, stewardship, advertising and general communications.
  • Internal and External Communication Management:

  • Lead public relations strategy.
  • Draft and execute press releases, media alerts and various announcements; coordinate media activities.
  •  Facilitate additional media and marketing communications in support of all initiatives.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all chapter media activities.
  • Write, review, and edit internal and external communications to ensure consistency among various stewardship materials and organization messaging.
  • Create and deploy emails to constituency groups through email platforms.
  • Oversee social media content / calendar strategy and project management.
  • Maintain organization website as the central source of information, consistently updating content, links, etc.
  • Communication and Marketing Support for Chapter:

  • Liaise with outsourced partners to manage video production, graphic design, campaign-specific outreach, and media partners.
  • Negotiate all media contracts, promotions, advertising buys.
  • Assist all departments and event teams with specific marketing and communication needs.  Lead staff in efficiency, effectiveness and brand compliancy in promotional materials and media exposure.
  • Own and reinforce Make-A-Wish brand and policies, acting to achieve consistent brand voice, vision, and aesthetic.
  • Collaborate with Make-A-Wish America and Community Partners:

  • Serve as chapter liaison with MAW national public relations and marketing team to submit compelling wish stories for use in promotions, sponsorships, etc.
  • Liaise with MAW National Marketing team on Integrated Fundraising Messaging deployed through e-mail, etc.
  • Liaise with printer companies on all organization projects ensuring compliance with Governing Policies, Performance Standards and Guidelines and Brand Standards.
Requirements
  • EXCEPTIONAL written communication skills, both spelling and grammar, to draft and edit clear, persuasive, original copy.
  • Must be self-motivated, creative, detail-oriented, and excel in problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates planning and organization through (1) Integrating effective/smooth change; (2) prioritizing work activities; (3) setting measurable goals and objectives; (4) effective time management.
  • Fosters excellent quality work by identifying and adopting best practices and ensuring that all written work reflects positively on the MAW brand.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • Ability to connect with people and engage others in the mission of the organization.
  • Strong social media knowledge in our primary channels: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn
  • Excellent computer skills required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of design programs (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Photography experience preferred to identify and capture marketable moments.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum three-years marketing experience
