Make-A-Wish® South Carolina Announces Three New Appointments to Board of
Statewide Nonprofit Proud to Welcome Bill Smith, Chris DiGiusto, and Lane Lewis to Serve on Chapter’s Board.
Statewide, SC (March 8, 2022) – Make-A-Wish South Carolina is proud to announce that it has appointed Bill Smith, director of sales of Brother International, LLC, Chris DiGiusto, Vice President of the Managed Services Organization at Prisma Health, and Lane Lewis, retired global technology executive to its board of directors.
“We are thrilled to add these accomplished and compassionate professionals and advocates to our board. I’m confident Bill, Chris, and Lane will each move our mission forward with excellence” stated Misty Farmer, President & CEO of Make-A-Wish South Carolina.
The new directors join Make-A-Wish South Carolina at an exciting time as our organization experiences a rejuvenation in strategies and innovation. With more families isolated than ever before, creating hope through a wish experience is essential for the wish families we serve. The board is vital to driving our cross-channel strategy forward and build deeper relationships with constituents to fulfill our purpose of granting wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Farmer remarked, “Make-A-Wish South Carolina's board is indispensable in the strategic planning, evaluating, and composing of our chapter’s policies and composition. They are crucial to driving growth for our mission. Our directors make direct impact in our vision of transforming the life of every eligible child through a wish-come-true.”
The addition of these directors complements our board of directors' skills and experiences, and we are confident they will provide valuable viewpoints as we continue to execute our strategy. About Bill Smith
Bill Smith has worked for Brother International Corporation, for more than 20 years. He has held many different leadership roles and is actively involved in Brother’s Corporate Social Responsibility committee and serves on the Diversity and Inclusion committee. Bill has a passion for making a difference in people’s lives and in our communities. He is very active with Base Camp Kids Cancer Foundation and Toys for Tots. Bill also helped establish Communitty44, which is a nonprofit serving families in need in the Fountain Inn community. Bill has been integral to granting the wishes of several local children prior to joining the board and is actively training and fundraising for the spring Make-A-Wish Trailblaze Challenge. Bill is a native of South Carolina and attended Bob Jones University and served ten years in the United States Marine Corps. He is a Veteran of the Persian Gulf war.
About Chris DiGiusto
Chris DiGiusto is a healthcare executive at Prisma Health, where he serves in the role of vice president of the managed services organization. During Chris’s 20 years in healthcare leadership, he has been close to many Make-A-Wish stories and has a passion for serving those in need. Chris has served on several not-for-profit boards, including a school board, the Epilepsy Foundation, and the YMCA. Chris resides in Greenville, S.C. with his spouse and two teenage children.
About Lane Lewis
Lane Lewis has 30+ years of high-tech software sales experience delivering enterprise engineering solutions, used extensively to test and virtually prototype many of the world’s most complex products. He and global teams he has managed have helped the world’s most innovative companies deliver radically better products to their customers. Lane is currently retired, but his profession gave him vast experience in relationship building, communication, revenue generation, and managing complex problems. Lane currently serves on the board of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. He previously served on the board of the Our Saviours Lutheran Church where he played a lead role in a capital campaign that raised almost $10M. Prior to that, he was President of the board of the Galena Territory Association. Lane is an alumna of the Make-A-Wish Trailblaze Challenge and has personally fund raised more than $20,000 through the program. Lane and his wife currently live in Greenville, SC.
