Volunteer

Join a caring community of volunteers who transform lives. Together, we can make countless wishes come true.

Your time and unique talents are critical to bringing strength and hope to wish kids when they need it the most. In fact, our volunteers are at the heart of every wish experience.

Make-A-Wish volunteers consider their work impactful and meaningful. And, their efforts are rewarded—not in dollars or cents, but in the incredible difference they make in the lives of our wish kids. Volunteers even have the freedom to choose when and how they would like to help transform lives in our community.

We understand that you want to volunteer but might not know where your skills and talents best lie. Check out our volunteer opportunities and see where you can best help make wishes come true.

Volunteer Types

Wish Granter

Wish granting volunteers are currently our greatest area of need. Wish granters will meet with the child and their family to help discover a child’s heartfelt wish, build excitement for the wish by sending enhancements, and be a part of seeing the wish come to life. Wish granters typically work in teams of two alongside Make-A-Wish staff to ensure every eligible child’s wish comes true.

Translator/Interpreter

Interpreters help us facilitate wish experiences for non-English-speaking families and makes the family feel more comfortable knowing some speaks their language. We are in desperate need of bilingual Spanish-speaking and Arabic-speaking volunteers!

Skill-Based Volunteer

Use your professional skills and knowledge on an as-needed basis to provide much-needed skills such as reading and writing in multiple languages, graphic design, photography, landscaping, room decorating and more.

Wish Family Ambassador

This opportunity is for wish alumni and their families to represent Make-A-Wish at outreach and fundraising events by sharing their wish experience.

 Your Make-A-Wish Journey Starts Today

At every level of the organization, volunteers are critical to the mission and here is information on the application process.

Next Step: Complete and return our Volunteer Application via email, mail or fax. Once received, a Make-A-Wish staff member will contact you to confirm receipt of the application and share the next steps. This is used as a preliminary screening tool, and incomplete applications will not be considered.

Please note: Due to the nature of our work, certain volunteer positions must successfully complete a criminal background check every three years and participate in online and virtual training.

Thank you again for your interest in bringing hope and joy to local children with critical illnesses as a Make-A-Wish volunteer.
