Hailey’s Wish

Hailey has spent much of her life in and out of hospitals due to seizures that began when she was just one year old. Despite facing significant challenges, including kidney disease, dependence on a feeding tube, and pulmonary artery hypoplasia, she has consistently demonstrated remarkable resilience.

When Hailey’s family learned she would receive a wish, they faced a meaningful challenge: identifying what Hailey would want. Since Hailey is nonverbal, her family was unsure about what the perfect wish would be for her. However, when a friend suggested Woodloch Resort, it opened up an exciting possibility. “I had never heard of it before, but after a quick search, I knew it was the perfect place for Hailey. Woodloch is a beautiful, all-inclusive family resort surrounded by nature, animals, and activities—all the things Hailey loves most. And I’m so happy to say it was even more perfect than we could have ever imagined,” said Karen, Hailey’s mom.

During their trip, Hailey and her family enjoyed all the things she loves most: strolls around the lake, appreciating the serene beauty of their natural surroundings. They spent cozy evenings gathered around the fire pit, and their days were filled with joy as they explored playgrounds, creating priceless memories together.

The family experienced many highlights during Hailey’s wish, but the most remarkable moment was Hailey’s first horseback ride. Dave, a dedicated staff member at Woodloch, asked if Hailey would enjoy riding a horse. Although her family was apprehensive due to her low muscle tone, Dave reassured them that he would support Hailey throughout the experience. “He sat Hailey on the horse (which was the same type of horse from one of her favorite movies, Frozen) and he held her securely, helping her sit upright, while another sweet woman led the horse down the trail.

We watched in awe as our daughter rode all by herself, head up high, smiling and loving every second of it. It was a moment that brought me to tears.

Hailey's journey transcended a simple wish; it highlighted the power of hope, the strength of family, and the beauty of human kindness.

“We are so incredibly thankful to each of you for making Hailey’s perfect wish a reality. The week we spent at Woodloch Pines Resort and the memories we created will stay with us forever,” Karen said.
