Who Ya Gonna Call? Ghostbusters!
But, when the thought of pairing Ghostbusters with a pretty cool go-kart came in the picture, there was an immediate glimmer in his eye. It was then time for Make-A-Wish Oklahoma to get to work on granting Trevor's wish to have a Ghostbusters themed go-kart!
Twelve-year old Trevor was diagnosed at two-weeks old with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic condition that affects the lungs. He doesn't let his condition stop him from living out the life of a typical middle school boy. Between sports and spending time with friends and family, Trevor keep's himself busy.
After going back and forth with a couple of wish options, Trevor's volunteer wish granters, Katie and Francie could tell Trevor was holding back on what he wanted his wish to be. They dove a bit deeper to determine his one true wish, a spark fired, and the rest was history! Through Make-A-Wish Oklahoma, Trevor wished to have a Ghostbusters go-kart.
His very unique wish was granted in a truly amazing way. The staff at Make-A-Wish Oklahoma coordinated with Oktaha Public Schools and put on a safety demo skit for staying safe while having fun outdoors. During the skit, the principal chose a ‘random’ student volunteer (Trevor) to demonstrate how to properly wear a helmet, gloves, and safety suit. The skit ended in a big reveal outside the school where his classmates, family, the Ghostbusters team, and his new go-kart were waiting for him.
Trevor was so surprised and overwhelmed by his wish. According to his wish granters, Trevor was in such shock he didn't realize his wish was actually coming true until he stepped outside to hear his peers chanting his name.
The staff at Make-A-Wish Oklahoma was able to grant Trevor’s true heart-felt wish with the help of Oktaha Public Schools, Integrity Customs Tulsa, Oklahoma Ghostbusters and The Real Oklahoma Ghostbusters!
