Montana's Wish for a Pool

Seven-year-old Montana has been a fighter since before she was even born. At birth, Montana was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension among other things resulting in many hardships ahead. Despite the obstacles, Montana continues to fight and enjoy life every way she can. 

One of Montana’s favorite things is water. She loves to play in water, even purposefully getting messy she she has to have a bath. Though Montana is nonverbal, she signs “bubbles” when she is ready to play. When volunteers asked Montana and her family what Montana’s wish might be, they knew a backyard pool would bring strength and joy to Montana.

When it came time for Montana’s wish to be granted the Yukon community stepped up and got involved. Donors came together to purchase supplies and local construction companies helped to build Montana’s deck. 

Since Montana’s pool and deck were completed, she has spent many days with her family in the pool. The pool doubles as a fun activity and also physical therapy for Montana as she works to build strength in her legs. Montana’s wish truly brought the community together and shower the impact of a wish on a whole community.
