Throughout the year, Make-A-Wish® Oklahoma offers a variety of unpaid internships to provide opportunities for students and recent graduates, to receive academic credit and/or valuable work experience in the nonprofit field. Preference will be given to juniors and seniors. Not only do our interns receive excellent job experience, they also get the opportunity to:
- Work directly with the department leaders and staff of our organization.
- Aid our organization in creating life-changing wishes and memories for Oklahoma children and their families.
- Take us one step closer to achieving our goal of granting the wish of every eligible child.
Internship Requirements:
- Selected candidates will be asked to participate in a criminal background check.
- This internship requires 12-15 hours (minimum) working in the office weekly. We also require a minimum commitment of 120 total hours.
- Collaborate well in a team environment
Please note: Though we strive to provide opportunities for as many students as possible, not every internship position is available every semester.
Fundraising & Events Intern (OKC & TULSA)
Focus on fundraising, with possible experience in event planning, donor solicitation, data management, individual and corporate donations, public relations including media relations for wish children and events.
Marketing and Communications Intern (OKC)
Focus on implementing a communications plan for entire organization, assist in the design and creation of collateral pieces, stewardship materials, news releases, and email campaigns. This position also includes wish storytelling and producing high-quality videos/photos and of wish experiences to help support our mission and fundraising goals.
Intake & Wish File Management Intern (OKC)
Focus on Wish Referral intake while supporting the Intake & Wish Referral Manager with all outreach and referral needs. There is a lot of interaction with medical professionals and wish families.
Volunteer Management Intern (OKC)
All with a focus on volunteer recruitment, training, communication, and management, in support of our wish children. There is a lot of interaction with wish families, children and volunteers.
Wish-Granting Intern (OKC & TULSA)
Focus on Wish Granting, with services to and for our wish children and their families. There is a lot of interaction with wish families and volunteers in the planning of wish experiences.
Executive Operations (OKC)
Research potential donors for the chapter, assist in preparing Board of Directors documents, solicit and arrange public speaking engagements, research activities of other chapters.
