Throughout the year, Make-A-Wish® Oklahoma offers a variety of unpaid internships to provide opportunities for students and recent graduates, to receive academic credit and/or valuable work experience in the nonprofit field. Preference will be given to juniors and seniors. Not only do our interns receive excellent job experience, they also get the opportunity to:
- Work directly with the department leaders and staff of our organization.
- Aid our organization in creating life-changing wishes and memories for Oklahoma children and their families.
- Take us one step closer to achieving our goal of granting the wish of every eligible child.
Internship Requirements:
- Selected candidates will be asked to participate in a criminal background check.
- This internship requires 12-15 hours (minimum) working in the office weekly. We also require a minimum commitment of 120 total hours.
- Collaborate well in a team environment
Please note: Though we strive to provide opportunities for as many students as possible, not every internship position is available every semester.
Fundraising Intern
This role supports Make-A-Wish Oklahoma’s fundraising and donor engagement efforts by assisting with donor recognition, grant follow-up, prospect research, and event coordination. Responsibilities include managing the donor database, preparing event materials, recruiting volunteers, and representing the organization at community events, with flexibility for weekend activities and strong communication and Excel skills required.
Marketing & Events Intern (OKC)
As a marketing & events intern, you’ll help tell the powerful stories of wish families through writing, photography, and digital media while supporting event promotion and donor engagement. You’ll also assist with organizing media assets, developing email campaigns, pitching news releases, and securing in-kind donations for upcoming events.
Medical Affairs Intern
As a medical affairs intern, you’ll support the initial stages of the wish process by organizing paperwork, updating databases, and conducting introductory calls with families to learn about each child’s interests. You’ll also communicate with medical professionals, volunteers, and parents to ensure accurate records and a smooth experience for every wish family.
Volunteer & Alumni Services Intern (OKC)
As a volunteer & alumni services intern, you’ll support recruitment, training, and retention efforts by assisting with volunteer communications, tracking statuses, and organizing appreciation events. You’ll also help promote the internship program, maintain social media pages, and contribute to large group projects and special events.
Wish Process Intern
As a Wish Process intern, you’ll help coordinate travel, gifts, and vendor communications to ensure each wish experience is seamless and memorable for families. You’ll also assist with documenting wishes, researching unique ideas, and maintaining follow-up with families and volunteers.
IT/Donor Care Intern (OKC)
As a data and IT intern, you’ll manage and organize donor and volunteer records in Salesforce, create reports and dashboards, and assist with database cleanup and inventory tasks. You’ll also support grant research and ensure accurate data entry while maintaining high standards of confidentiality and technical proficiency.
