Summary
Create a comprehensive plan and corresponding strategies to develop, grow and steward a portfolio of donors including individuals, corporations and foundations. Organize and oversee all internal events in the Tulsa area. Serve as point person for Kids for Wish Kids KFWK program in schools. Serve as coordinator and staff liaison for Young Professionals group.
Responsibilities
- Independently identify, cultivate, solicit, secure gifts, and steward donors including individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
- Independently solicit and secure gifts from individuals, corporations, community-based groups (e.g., civic organizations) and other entities consistent with the organization’s annual fundraising goals, strategic plan and mission of Make-A-Wish Oklahoma.
- Primary event coordinator of Make-A-Wish Oklahoma internal events in the Tulsa area, including but not limited to Stories of Light, Wish Upon a Par, Waffles for Wishes and Wobbles for Wishes. Working with the Senior Director of Development, creating revenue and expense budgets for each event, and be accountable for meeting or exceeding revenue and expense goals. Responsible for planning logistics, securing sponsors, and developing event committees.
- Manage and grow Make-A-Wish Oklahoma’s Kids for Wish Kids (KFWK) Program in assigned areas. Create detailed plan for increasing school participation and support of KFWK partners. Build and sustain relationships with current partner schools. Identify and cultivate new school partners. Represent MAWOK at KFWK events, kick-offs and check presentations.
- Serve as Staff liaison for Make-A-Wish Young Professionals Council. Responsible for recruiting new members and engaging committee in the Make-A-Wish mission. Accountable for leading the committee and supporting their efforts in hosting fundraising events, including Waffles for Wishes.
- Write solicitation letters, proposals, and/or other communications to raise revenue for Make-A-Wish Oklahoma, including working with the Director of Marketing and Communications on direct mail solicitations and other projects as needed.
- Report and track gifts and all actions in Salesforce
- Secure sponsorships, support and participate in specified special events, recognition and stewardship programs as assigned.
- Meet or exceed revenue goals attached to internal events.
- Create self-designed methods of fundraising
- Additional duties as assigned by the Sr. Director of Development.
Requirements
- Demonstrates exceptional communication skills both written and oral. Must be comfortable with public speaking including media
- Proficient in Salesforce a plus (Raiser’s Edge by Blackbaud and/or other forms of data management – Salesforce experience strongly preferred but training is also available)
- Possess the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively
- Demonstrates strong ability to lead initiatives and participate as a team member
- Demonstrates attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Demonstrates the ability to motivate and support a diverse constituency in a team-oriented atmosphere
- Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of and a passion for the work of Make-A-Wish
- Must be a self-motivated, self-directed individual and work without direct supervision
- Has the ability and willingness to travel statewide
- Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
Education & Experience
- BA/BS in communications, public relations, non-profit management or related degree
- Minimum 3 years work experience required (preferably in Development or Events)
