Summary

Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration of the volunteer program and occasional wish granting. 

Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day administration of the Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada volunteer program including: 

  • Creative posting and managing of volunteer assignments in our volunteer management software 

  • Responding to staff needs for volunteer support 

  • Adhering to all National and Chapter volunteer policies, guidelines, standards and procedures  

  • Upholding integrity of volunteer records and biographical information via data entry, physical paperwork, background checks, necessary forms & job assignments  

  • Onboarding eligible volunteers by arranging necessary interviews & training 

  • Ability to match volunteer skills with the needs of the organization 

  • Managing volunteer supply and swag inventory  

  • Generating and analyzing volunteer database queries to build useful reports  

  • Assist in execution of annual Volunteer Appreciation Event to recognize all volunteers including annual awards, giveaways and recognition collateral 

  • Ensure volunteer stewardship and recognition year-round 

  • Create yearly strategic plan to grow volunteer base, engagement, and opportunities  

  • Coordinates wishes (up to 10% of local and travel wishes – domestic) annually from concept approval to completion and maintain accurate and current electronic and hard copy wish files in accordance with National and Chapter policies, guidelines and standards. 

  • As needed (on a limited basis) responsibility of 24-hour local wish family emergency line 

  • Accepts other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the Leadership Staff and Wish Team 

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent project management experience  

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred – must demonstrate excellent verbal and written English skills 

  • Ability to connect with people and engage others in the mission of the organization 

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to execute multiple projects, tight deadlines and prioritize efforts  

  • Excellent computer skills required (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel) 

  • Data-entry/customer relationship database experience required. Salesforce or CERVIS experience ideal, but not required 

  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and presentation skills  

  • Must be self-motivated, creative, detail-oriented, and excel in problem-solving skills  

  • Ability to deal with sensitive information with a high level of trust and confidentiality 

  • Ability to respond to rapidly changing situations 

  • Collaborative work ethic with ability to motivate and support and work with a diverse constituency  

  • Available to work some nights and weekends
